Crape Myple Second Blooming

This is the second blooming this summer for this Crape Myrtle one year it bloomed three times.  It was shorter then and Carrel did not have to climb on a ladder to dead head. I do not like the seeds to fall on the ground and sprout. This was the first plant Carrel planted in my yard,  however it was not the last.  Every time I go to Charlottes,  we go flower shopping. I came home with a car load of flowers,  as usual.  The Water Garden Nursery had this tree.  It was five foot tall in a two gallon pot and just the color I wanted.  When I arrived at home I took every thing out of my car and set it in the shade.  I did not plant anything until the next morning.  When I plant a new plant in a new bed I dig a big hole and put the dirt in a bucket and mix equal amounts of cow manure old dirt and some coffee ground and plant my new plant.  When the bucket is full of dirt I take it too another new bed my son Frank tilled up for me.  This dirt here was awful it took us a long time to get  the beds in good shape  By time I finished planting all the plants my back was hurting so bad I could not even lift this tree.  So I went over to Mr. Sheffield  ( now of course it is Carrel) and ask him if he would plant my tree for me.  This was the first thing he planted for me,  but as you know it has not been the last.  When I told him what I did to hurt my back , being a man he said "Don't you have a wheelbarrow ?" I had not thought of it.  I never do things the easy way.  Debbie tries to make everyone believe he has planted everything since.  He has planted a lot but not everything,  he only planted three of the thirty nine roses I had.  He does plant more now than he did.  He planted all the Azalea and made all the newer beds.  I like to get down in the dirt and my flowers myself in the spring.  That is not all he does for me.  Sandy , my youngest says he does everything for me.  That is not true  if he did he would not have time to do what he likes best.  Read!and Read! some more,  he loves to read,  I do not mind him reading in fact we read about ten books a week, he a lot more of them than I do.  I started this blog some time ago found it as a draft and decided to finish.  I do not like all the little trees that come up under Crape Myrtles  and I like to have things to bloom more than one time in a year I knew they would bloom more than once if you cut off the old blooms.  I have had them before.  Since I have had this tree Carrel has dead headed them.  Some years they have bloomed three times.   When he first started he could stand on the ground, then stand on a five foot ladder but now he has a harder time cutting it back.   I was wondering if I could get a picture off of Facebook and put it on here well you can save  you pictures and pick it up and send it to your blog.  It has gotten harder to get Carrel to cut this back.  I may have to get the young man who cleans my yard to do it.  I do not want the seeds to come up under here the are hard to get out of the ground.  This tree has bloomed as many as three times in one season but Carrel has to cut the blooms off just as soon as it finishes.

I hope you have enjoyed this blog.  Thank you for watching my garden grow and bloom and I hope you grow one of your own.  I love to walk in it and drink my coffee sitting on my beach.  Happy gardening to you from Carrel and I,   Juanita,

I started this blog some time ago so I thought I would finish it.  I like everything to repeat blooming, the Crape Myrtle will if you dead head after each blooming.

New Order from Way Side Gardens

I ordered today these flowers for my new butterfly garden.  This is the Cherry Popes Sugars Buzz Monarda(Bee Balm)  Sounds nice, doesn't.  They will ship in about two weeks.  I have had the Monarda in red and purple.  The bees and butterflies love the flower.

The   Dreaming Swan Windflower looks different from most flowers and they say butterflies love them. I downloaded this picture looks a little blurred.

Diana Clara Lungwort is another plant I have never planted. Hope it does well and hope they multiply well.
Polemonium Caeruleum Bressingham Purple  this is another new one for me.  Something must have happened to me when I fell,  I am really getting brave ordering flowers I have never heard of before.  Each one looked so pretty.

At least I know this is a good flower for here.  Sombrero Coneflower. These are shorter than the others,  maybe I will not have to stick these.

This one is a Lenten Rose blooms in late winter - early spring.  I ordered it in the fall,  but it is not doing well.  I talked with a person on Way Side Gardens and was told to mix one fourth cup of Epsom Salt to one gallon of water and pour on the plant.  I read on Goggle the same thing or lime, these flowers do not like acid soil.  I order 3 more.  I do hope I can get them started.

Winter Helleborus this is in the same family however it is called Winter Jewel.   This one is doing beautifully,  however I did put some Epsom Salt on this also. I ordered three of these also.  I have a shade bed that I plant annual every year.   This year I will plant nothing but perennials.
I thank you for watching my garden grow and bloom.  And  hopeyou will grow one of your own.  Happy gardening to you from Carrel and I,  Juanita.
