Good Friday's Guest

I was delighted to see Debbie and Lenora come to see me on Good Friday.  Debbie always comes        some where around Easter.  She always brings me something.  When they were young I always gave them something on every holiday, now I am on the receiving end.  The stain glass window above was one of the gifts.  Debbie created this window, at the very top she wrote "Will the circle be unbroken".  J for Juanita S for Carrel Sheffield C for Charlotte, D for Debbie, L for Lenora, F for Frank, E for Elizabeth, S for Sandy.  I pray our circle will not be unbroken. I really had a hard time taking this picture.  I must have taken 20 never got one completely level, even with the lines on my camera.  Taking pictures of flowers or anything else besides a window does not really matter, this was hard.  I could not use a flash, it reflected off of the window.  This was the best one.  Thank you Debbie, now Calli will not scare me jumping on the window.   This was the second visit for Lenora this month.  Debbie wanted to take us out for lunch, however I am always prepared now,  with a meal from Schwans.  I like to sit around my table and talk and laugh when I have company.  Debbie also brought us a basket of goodies, I shard with Carrel.

Carrel Debbie and Lenora
We had a very nice visit.  We walked around in my yard such as it is right now.  We still do not have it cleaned up.  Below are some of the flowers we saw.

Pink Hyacinths

Pink Gerber Daisies

Purple Hyacinths

Pots of Pansies

Pink Camellia

Purple Iris

Red Camilla

Another red Camilla

I love to see them come.  They are all busy, Debbie is Regional Directer of the Tops.  She just came from a State  convention.  She told me where but I forgot.  I hate to see them leave, I instantly get down.  Debbie and Lenora leaving in her little red car, we are saying goodbye.
Driving away.

These were some more visitors that Friday.

Today is another cold rainy day.  I wanted to go to Eudora today and look for flowers but I would not enjoy walking in the rain.  Maybe tomorrow, if the good Lord be willing.
These are more daffodils, we have some more that will bloom later.  My Azaleas are beginning to bloom.

I hope you have enjoyed this new page of my Blog.  Thank you for watching my garden grow and bloom, hope you will plant one of your own.  Still have no rose buds.  Happy gardening to you from Carrel and I, Juanita.

Round To It

Carrel has finally gotten around to it.  What?  Making my 2ft. bed around the water pipe in my front yard.  When you ask your husband when he is going to do some chore on your Honey Do list does he say "when I get around to it?"  I worked at a Big Star in Ashdown Ar. wrapping meat in the late 80s.   My boss was Don Baker.  I told him every time I ask my husband to make a new flower bed he would say " Sure when I get a round to it"?  He told me of a company name Tu It.  Their calling card was a thin circle of wood about the size of a quarter with "Tu It" stamped on it.  Mr Baker said he would bring me one for hubby.  The next time my husband came in he gave him the round tu it and said now you have one.  We all  got a big laugh.

This one has been really hard to build because it is so short.  He had to clamp it down to the saw horses to cut the 4x2 inch strip. Then  he sat down on the ground to chisel out the 4x2 inch strip.
He drills a hole so it won't be so hard to drive a nail  threw the two timbers.

Then he nails the two timber together.  You can see in the back ground the pipe he will put the bed around.

Carrel builds five squares of timbers and place each one around the pipe.

When Carrel has placed the timbers around the pipe, to make sure the pipe won't move and break he screws what he calls a horse shoe clamp on the pipe.
It is finish ready for spring flowers.   This bed is in full sun nearly all day.  I have been thinking about planting  a Butterfly bush in this bed.  I will wait until they bloom to plant it.

Cleaning up.

                                               What is blooming now?

This is a King Alford Daffodil, holds it's cup up and the saucer is bigger than most.

I have two of these and I love them.  They are always pretty.

A little rusty around the outer pedals but still pretty.  Debutant, such a pretty pink.

 Red Hyacinths, really hot pink.

 We have two of these.

A ground coversmall buds here to grow.  I will move them in the fall.

A couple of my pink Gerber Daisies  are blooming

.

Some of my pots are still looking good.  The hail messed up some of them.

Still have my purple Iris blooming.  I am going to move some of these and plant them by my walk out front, these are in the back yard.  I still do not have a bud on any of my roses.

I hope you have enjoyed this page in my blog.  Thank you for watching my garden grow and bloom, hope you will grow on of your own.  Happy gardening to you from Carrel and I, Juanita.

This is the hail that hit here a day or two after Carrel finished the small flower bed.

Charlotte found this and sent it to me.  I try Google with no result. Thank you Charlotte.  This is different from the one he had but you get the meaning.

Spring's Coming

The purple Hyacinths are all blooming but one.  I left it laying on the ground and we dug a hole and planted it, after it had started to bud.  It is out out the ground now and has a bud but it will be a while before it blooms.

Look close and you can see a busy bee.  I saw a butterfly on these the other day.  Butterflies fly too quickly sometimes and I could not get my camera snapping soon enough.  They look blue here but they are very purple.

More of my Daffodils are blooming.

This one has white petals and an orange cup.  My Mother use to call them cups and saucers.

This Camilla's name is The Governor, just beauty not lies like the humans.

I have two of these.  I do want to get some that bloom earlier than these.  I have one Camilla  That has already bloomed out and one that is almost finished.  I don't need any more that blooms this time of the year.  My Azaleas have buds on them and should open in about a week.
I do have something blooming every month now. I am going to plant more Azaleas and Camillas  on the East side of my house.

A close up of the Governor.

A new bloom on my favorite bush.

We had company the past few days.  Carrels son Johnnie, his wife Janelle and two kids and two dogs. This is Bella. We really enjoyed all. They have a boy Emerson and a girl Jessica.  A boy dog and Bella.

We have no buds so far on our roses.  Carrel was late trimming them and has not fertilized yet.  March is the month to fertilize.  Hope you have enjoyed this page of my blog.  Thank you for watching my garden grow and bloom, hope you will grow one of your own.  Happy gardening to you from Carrel and I, Juanita.

We have a new Great Grand Daughter born today.  Tried to get a picture from  face book but they have changed the way to send them to my pictures so I was not successful.
